Oops, ma'am..I mean man!

Mistakes

Working in customer service for many years, I have the tendency to address people as sir or ma'am. I took the kids through the McDonald's drive-thru to get some grub one day. I had finished ordering, and the employee on the speaker asked in a very low voice, "Will that be everything for you today?" I said, "Yes, Sir, thank you very much."

I pulled forward and found a woman with tons of silver necklaces on, and rings on every finger. She said in her abnormally-voice, "8.86, please," and I was horrified. I was so embarrassed! I thought for sure that was a guy's voice. Now, when I go there, and I hear that low voice, I know to call the person a ma'am, hahahaha.
